Jim Clark – Team Lotus

Jim Clark

Precision, focus, clinical – some of the words I associate with the driving style of the legendary Jim Clark.  Of the 73 GP starts, he notched up 32 podiums and 25 wins, however, curiously enough he only won two world championships in ’63 & ’65.  In addition to his F1 racing he also competed in (and won in ’65) the Indy 500, was british Touring car Champion in ’64, finished 3rd in le Mans in 1960 and was Tasman Champion (closed season races in Australasia) in ’65, 67 and 68.  He only ever drove for Colin Chapmans Team Lotus and at the time of his death (April ’68) he held the record for the most GP wins (25) and fastest laps (33).  Now to the miniature figure – it’s another of my 43rd scale castings from Denizen which I have slightly modified by adding a fireproof scarf (from Miliput) and painted up in Valejo acrylics.  I’ve depicted him at the time when he would have been driving the revolutionary and all conquering Lotus 49 (which he drove to it’s debut win at Zandvoort in Holland in 1967).
