Up on the “Bay” at the moment (in separate listings) are my 1/18 CMC Auto Union Type C as driven by the late great Bernd Rosemeyer at the German Grand Prix in 1936 and a hand painted resin figure of the man himself. Â Rosemeyer notched up many famous victories at the wheel of the Silver Arrows and won the European drivers championship in 1936. Â Already famous around the world as a top line Grand Prix driver with the Silver Arrows, he achieved celebrity status as a result of his marriage to female air ace; Eilly Beinhorn in 1936 – a 1930’s version of “Posh & Beck’s” if you will! Â Rosemeyer was sadly killed during a landspeed record attempt on an autobahn near Frankfurt while driving an Auto Union “streamliner” in January 1938.
