Jim Clark Lotus 49 – Acrylic on canvas

I started putting this famous image of the late great jim Clark driving his Lotus 49 onto canvas with acrylics.  I initially “warmed” up the canvas with a wash of cad yellow orange and then blocked in the main shapes and values.  I’m pretty happy with it so far, so I’m going to take a break and get back to painting the rest of those miniature driver figures.  More on this later. Jo Siffert “Seppi” – original pencil sketch

He has to be one of the “coolest” of F1 drivers – always slightly ruddy and dishevelled with  a “devil may care” look sporting stylish aviator sunglasses and the regulation Marlboro hanging from the side of his mouth – a mixture of Steve McQueen and James Dean! :Wikipedia I’ve been enjoying doodling for the last two days using just pencil and paper (something I haven’t done for many years) so it’s nice to be re-united with my base skills -very relaxing.  An original pencil sketch 18×12 inches approx (12 x 8 when mounted).  The photo shows the full uncropped sketch. PEOPLES ART EXHIBITION STEPHENS GREEN DUBLIN 2010

The August session of the Peoples Art Exhibition 2010 took place Fri- Sun 20-22nd on what was a warm (and mainly dry) week-end.  The exhibition (which takes place three times a year on three week-ends during June, Aug & Sept) is always a great attraction for visitors, tourists and indeed Dubliners, and this year was no exception.  While lots of people visited the exhibition, sales were significantly down but this didn’t prevent everyone from enjoying themselves.  Look out for the next session which takes place 24- 26th September 2010. My latest effort to get my site moving again!!

I came across a wonderful undertaking by three young enterprising guys called www.buyacredit.com – I’ve added my little bit of support to this marvellous project and in return, the’ve given me a spot on their Pixel-Ad Patchwork – a definite “Win Win” situation. Click “DARDENTOR THE MOVIE” Link for more information on what I think is wonderfully creative thinking in this current climate of “doom and gloom”! So armed with new found enthusiasim and “big-time” exposure, I hope to channel my efforts in a more focussed way into being more active on the web by using my site to publicise … Continue reading My latest effort to get my site moving again!!

Stephens Green Art 2008

The final Stephens Green “Art week-end” of 2008 took place last week-end 19th – 21st Sept’.  The weather was very good with plenty of warm sunshine over the three days – what a contrast to the terrible rain we all experienced in August and June!  I was located on the East side of the Green and I must say it was very pleasant sitting in the sunshine enjoying the wonderful “banter” and company of the other artists. Once again the standard/quality of the art was very high and I was “blown away” by some of the wonderful pieces on display … Continue reading Stephens Green Art 2008
