Preparing the “Prancing horse”!

I just took a couple of quick shots on the bench of these Ferrari mechanics I painted up recently – (a mixture of Trackpass and Scalelink figures in metal). Continue reading “Preparing the “Prancing horse”!”

After sorting problems with my airbrush compressor, I’m now back on track with this 1/8 scale Alonso helmet. Continue reading “That Alonso helmet is back on track!”
After two stunning back to back winning seasons, things haven’t really gone to plan for Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel so far this year. His regular victorious “Finger pointing” pose which we saw him adopt with such regularity during last years season of total dominance has become a bit of a rare sight so far during 2012. However, with that wonderful winning drive in Bahrain back in April he once again, shall we say; “Got his finger out”!! Continue reading “Vettel gets the finger out once again!”
Another version of the Steve McQueen (AKA Michale Delaney figure) from the film Le Mans, this time in 1/24 scale – a metal casting from E.jan which I’ve just completed modifying to facilitate that famous shall we say; “Hand gesture”! … Continue reading The same “hand-signal” in a larger scale!
In an earlier post I started modifying two figures to reprise the famous McQueen “two fingered salute” from the film “LeMans” – so far I’ve finished the modifications to the 43rd scale version for his arms and hair-line – once … Continue reading The Le Mans “Two finger” salute – the message is clear!
And what a clash – at Suzuka in 1990 for the Japanese Grand Prix (the penultimate round of the season) all eyes were on the two main protagonists sitting on the front row of the grid; Ayrton Senna and Alian Prost. Continue reading “Clash of the Titans at Suzuka”
In the closing stages of the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola in 1982 Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi (both driving for Ferrari) were lining up for a thrilling One-Two finish in front of their home crowd. Back in 1982 F1 cars were notoriously unreliable, fragile and prone to break down or run out of fuel.  With 15 laps left to run, the Ferrari team ordered their drivers to slow down to ensure the cars got to the finish. One school of thought is that Villeneuve believed this meant they should maintain their positions and as a result they should “hold station” and finish without racing each other. On the other hand, Pironi’s view was that they were still free to race each other and as a result he duly passed Villenuve a couple of laps later. After a difficult start to the 2012 season for the reigning World Champ SebastianVettel, normal service was once again resumed with his win last time out at the troubled race in Bahrain. Once again he was looking bullet proof and emerged from the car pointing that finger! Continue reading “The Bulls are back in the hunt!”
Following on from my last post, I’ve painted up two more of those tiny canvasses of Ayrton Senna from his Mclaren days. I’ve posed them in a kind of (mini) gallery setting with a 1/20th Tamiya MP4-5B and a figure of Senna made by Modellers. Continue reading “Senna on mini canvas!”
……………..whatever that means? But there is something about the notion that one can hold in ones hand a miniature representation of something which is much bigger in reality and shrink it down to enjoy and devour all the lovely details – much like diecast collecting! Continue reading “Small is beautiful…………………….”
